“I can’t be this near you and not want to make love to you. And as much as you think you’re ready, you’re going to wake up tomorrow full of regret. So…” I pulled the phone out of my pocket.

She grabbed my hand. “You mean to tell me that I’m that irresistible to you that we can’t just sit and talk, watch a movie like we’ve been doing for the past couple of weeks?” Her lips suddenly turned down. “I’m sorry. You probably already have plans with some other woman, and I’m trying to make it about me. Obviously, you’re ready to go. So, let me —“

I cut her ramble off with my tongue and pulled her flush against me, pressing my erection into her stomach. I broke off the kiss, both of us panting. “This is how hard I am for you. I don’t have plans tonight, but I want you too much to just be near you and pretend that I don’t want anything more than to be your first. Your condition is commitment, and you know I don’t do love.”

ABOUT TIYE

Tiye Love

I recalled reading romance ever since I was a young child and would sneak and read the Western love stories my grandmother kept on her bedside table. Although I didn’t understand half of the words, I read at the time, something about those books captured my attention. As I grew older, my love of romance expanded to other genres. I became a fan of anything remotely related to reading and books, such as libraries, bookstores, and the coffee shop around the corner. I love dancing with my family, traveling and romance movies. I have lived in several cities, including New Orleans, Washington D.C., and Houston, and I find inspiration for my stories from every place I’ve had the fortune to visit or inhabit.

I want my readers to escape their realities and embark on a journey of self-exploration and love when they delve into my books. I’ve loved reading fiction, thrillers, and romance for years. Although my original (and still) writing interest was YA and self-help books, I received a surprise text on Valentine’s Day and wrote the first chapter of a romance novel. And I became forever inspired to write spicy love stories – with a twist.

Please take a ride with me, Tiye Love, and hold on to your hearts! I invite you to check out my website, join my newsletter at http://www.tiyelovebooks.com, follow me on FB @Tiye Love Books, and/or on my IG @tiye28always.

Newly married, Saman wants to be a wonderful husband, but serious health concerns are affecting his daily life and marriage. To improve his situation, he undergoes a kidney transplant, but the procedure leads to as many complications as solutions to his problems.

After the operation, Saman’s wife, Thelma, plans a belated honeymoon to Hawaii, hoping it will help her troubled husband relax. Before they leave, a friend gives Thelma the contact of a wealthy entrepreneur who hosts transcendental magic mushroom (psilocybin) and psilohuasca (ayahuasca component + magic mushrooms) ceremonies on his secluded Hawaiian estate. Based on her own visions and transformative experiences with psychedelics, Thelma believes the ceremony may benefit Saman, and she books the psychedelic retreat.

As the couple explores the lush landscape of Hawaii, the trip reveals the strengths and weaknesses of their bond. Saman grows hesitant to attend the mushroom ceremony, while Thelma becomes convinced that it’s exactly what her husband needs. What she doesn’t realize is that Saman harbors a secret that could threaten more than just their marriage.

Is the honeymoon of their love only beginning? Or will Saman’s dishonesty lead to the destruction of their relationship?

Excerpt

As their lips parted, a hush fell over the crowd and Bāne Kama strolled out from the living room. Bare-chested, he wore white linen pants with a belt of braided plant fibers and a necklace of golf-ball-sized black beads with a large Hawaiian fishhook dangling above his navel.

As he passed, Thelma got a better view of his tattoos, including a detailed drawing of an octopus on his spinal column, with tentacles wrapping around his sides, creating the effect of the creature riding on his back. He faced the crowd with his arms outstretched and palms lifted. The ocean shimmered in the distance beyond his sculpted physique.

Nervous energy sparked through Thelma and she shifted her legs to release the tension. Bāne opened his mouth and, in a deep, clear voice, bellowed a melody of fluid Hawaiian words.

Who was this man? The more Thelma saw him, the more she grew convinced they’d met before.

The song finished and the audience applauded. Bāne pressed his enormous hands together in prayer and tipped his head. He scanned the crowd. “We’ll now hike to the sacred ceremony space and begin our journey.”

With the rest of the guests, they trailed behind Bāne’s hulking form as he led them around the guest houses and up a hill; via a stone path, they entered the jungle.

Looks can be deceiving though, and he finds himself comparing every woman he meets to Ella, leaving her never far from his thoughts or his heart.

#BookTour “His Sister’s Best Friend” by Shyla Colt

Contemporary Romance

Date Published: 03-29-2021

Solomon

The man of the house since my father’s death at sixteen, I knew I’d be the guardian for my sister, Susan, who has Down syndrome. However, I didn’t realize I’d become her guardian while dealing with my mother’s mini-strokes, rehabilitation, and selling the family home. I’m drowning in paperwork and emotions as I try to get Susan adjusted. A new care plan and a specialized school act as light at the end of the tunnel. I never expected to find her new best friend at the school was my old high school crush.

Ezra

I always regretted keeping my feelings for Solomon to myself. When we became the victims of losing touch in college, I added it to my list of regrets. Now he’s back as the guardian of a student, and the years have been exceedingly kind. My habit of following rules is suddenly out the window. Risking the reputation I’ve worked so hard to gain isn’t on my to-do list.

Can we manage a relationship without it becoming a conflict of interest?

EXCERPT

Ezra

Expanding Hope is the dream I’ve shed blood, sweat, tears, and dollar bills for. What started as the lofty imagining of a girl who watched her baby brother struggle in a world that didn’t understand him or respect him for all he could do, has come to fruition. We’d gone from a small, rented space to this beautiful building. Seeing so many handi-capable people grow to their full potential and live their best lives has made all my sacrifices worthwhile. Having my brother, Miles, teach one of the courses is a significant bonus. Who better to help them learn how to acclimate to living independently than one of their own?

The importance of representation shouldn’t be overlooked. There are plenty of ways to insinuate without ever opening your mouth. I pause outside of my brother’s classroom and listen to him going over the steps for purchasing groceries. My parents had a can-do attitude. We focused on all the things he was able to do and building up the skills that would give him as much independence as he could handle. It was a radical way of thinking back then. Life expectancy for children with DS used to be thirty years. That’s changed rapidly, along with their understanding of people who have the extra chromosome.

I admired my Mom and Dad for sticking to their guns and ignoring the drivel the doctors had told them when Miles was born. It always helped me forge my own path in life. Because there are plenty of people who’ll let you know what you can and can’t do. Moving away from the room, I proceed down the hallway into the main area where people socialize. Today is Invite a Friend Day. As the owner, I’m not as hands-on as I’d like to be. It takes a lot of money to keep our building running, which means grants, writing, and presentation to more prominent companies looking to do community service and work to make them look good.

I learned a long time ago to ignore the reasons why people do things and focus on the rewards. It’s the only way to keep my soul intact when I do proposals.

“Ezra.”

I turn to focus on one of our newest students. Susie came to us a month prior. Her lack of socialization broke my heart. She’s made friends and learned at an exponential rate. I call her my sponge.

“Hey, Susie.” I open my arms for a hug.

“I brought my brother! I wanted him to meet you.”

“I can’t wait to meet him.” I glance up, and my heart skips a beat at the face that greets me. It’s been over twenty years, but I’ll never forget those eyes or that expressive face. Soulful, deep-set, navy-blue eyes are set in a square face with a broad forehead and adorably over-sized ears. Ashland, Ohio is a decently sized city, but the village of Loudonville, where I grew up, is far smaller.

“Solomon?” I whisper, shocked. The odds of us coming back together now in Ashland are mind-boggling.

“Ezra?” His dark blue eyes widen. “When my sister said that was her best friend’s name, I didn’t even consider it might be you.”

I grin. “This Susie is your sister?”

We met in high school at a support group for siblings of children with Down syndrome. It was a unique and, at times, challenging position to be in. Having a sibling who required extra help often put us more capable children on the back burner. We were expected to take on more responsibility and grow up faster. Knowing I had a person I went to school with who I could talk to had been a lifeline when I felt ignored and alone. I owe my school counselor for seeing what was happening and being proactive. We’d been like peanut butter and jelly from that first meeting. I’d harbored a massive crush on him, but I hadn’t dared risk losing my anchor over the feelings.

“Yes. That’s my Susie.” He opens his arms, and I go to them like a bird focused on a homing beacon. The earthy scents with hints of pine are familiar and welcoming. Tightening his grip, he makes my heart race. Forty looks damn good on him. “How’s Miles?”

I peer up from the circle of his muscular arms. “Great. He teaches a class here.”

“That’s fantastic, Ez.”

“Seems only right, considering he was the inspiration and seed planted that grew into Expanding Hope.”

“I’m not surprised that you’ve created such an inclusive and warm space. You were always full of idealism and determination. I knew you’d change the world somehow.”

“Sol! That’s my best friend.” Susie’s cry is a bucket of ice water.

Clearing my throat, I step away from the hold that stopped being a hug sixty seconds ago.

“I’m sorry. I know Ez from high school.”

Susie’s eyes round. “You do?”

“Yes. We were great friends.” I grab Susie’s hand. “He talked about you a lot.”

Susie giggles. “He did?”

“Oh yeah. I heard all about his awesome little sister.”

She smiles.

“Is it okay if we share Ezra? She’s pretty cool, you know?” Sol bends down to put himself on her eye level, and my heart melts a little.

“I think we can.”

“Thank you.” Sol kisses Susie’s cheek and winks at me. “I’m so happy to see my friend again.”

His words make my stomach flip. I’m happy to see my old friend, too. I lick my suddenly dry lips and try not to stare at his fit frame. Sol has bulked out in the best way possible. The meat on his bones has me ready to explore him like a tree. I’m not tiny at five-foot-eleven, so he’s got to be pushing six-foot-four. My lack of professional thinking should be appalling, but damn, the man is a thirst trap.

I focus on Susie. “Do you want to show your brother what you’ve learned about the store?”

Susie beams. “I do.” She grabs Sol’s hand and pulls him toward the area we have set up to resemble a store.

“I’ll be the cashier today.”

I grab an apron off the hook on the wall and move behind the cash register filled with realistic paper money and coins. A lot of our students enjoy routines and familiar activities. Taking the scariness out of everyday interactions gives them confidence.

“Good afternoon,” I fall into my role as Susie comes up with a basket full of groceries. Each item is clearly marked with prices. I ring them up, scanning them to add authenticity. I can see the awe in Sol’s face. He had no idea she was ready for this step. I’ve watched her development and come up with a few thoughts on her past caregiver. Her mother was from the school of ‘she can’t do that, and I need to protect her’. She’s blossoming now with her brother at the helm and a progressive care action plan. We work closely with doctors and psychologists to make sure we’re challenging our students without pushing them to do things they aren’t ready for yet.

After bagging her items, I take her money and give her the proper change. “Have a nice day,” I say with a smile.

“You too.” She steps away, and I clap.

“That was amazing, Suz! When did you learn to do that?” Sol asks.

“We’ve been working on it,” Susie tells him excitedly.

Sol looks at me and shakes his head. “Wow.”

“Susie did all the hard work. We just gave her a little guidance.”

A bell chimes, and the doors open as classes shift. Miles steps out and waves at Susie.

“Can I go talk to Miles?” she asks.

Sol shrugs. “I don’t see why not.”

“I can update your brother on how awesome you’ve been doing.”

“Thanks, Ezra.” She all but skips off, and I smile. Her connection with my brother was almost instantaneous. They’re nearly inseparable when he’s not teaching.

I turn to face Sol. “I actually wanted to talk to you alone.”

Sol tenses. “Is something wrong?”

I reach out and grab his forearm, and his muscle flexes. I swallow back a moan.

“Not at all. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. Susie is doing so well with her classes. I want to offer you a spot in a new program we are getting ready to launch. We’ll step outside of the classroom and help them further develop their social skills with people they don’t know.”

“I’m not sure if she’s ready for that.”

“I know this is a lot. You’re both in a transitional stage, but I truly believe she’s ready and eager to do more for herself. I think fostering that emotion will serve her well in the future.”

“I don’t know.” He frowns.

“You’re welcome to join us for our first trip to see it firsthand.”

He looks over to where Susie and Miles are talking animatedly. Hands are waving, and voices are raised. Their joy is almost tangible.

“When she first moved into the house with me, she fell into a deep depression. You guys have helped me pull her out of that funk. I don’t want to stand in the way of more breakthroughs for her.”

“We’ll take good care of her, Sol. I know how hard it is to let them go.” I grab his large hand.

He curls his fingers around mine. “I know.”

I hear Whoopie Goldberg’s character from Ghost whisper in my brain, You’re in danger, girl.

The Fire God Tour

Publication Date: May 29th, 2019

Genre: Romantic Suspense/ Magical Realism

Miles Moore is obsessed with fire. He can’t help it—it’s in his genes. He’s also the famous performer Ari, an international hip-hop sensation. There are some negatives that come with fame—death threats and life on the road among them—but there’s also a lot of good: fast cars, fast women, international travel, and more money than he can handle. When Bella Wahlberg joins his team as the chief of marketing, she seems like the antithesis of what he’s looking for, so much so that Miles dubs her Belsa the Ice Queen. It would be unprofessional for them to get together, but more than that, she’s unavailable—and deathly afraid of fire. But as they prepare for The Fire God Tour, Miles can tell something is changing. Is he ready to commit himself to one woman? Can fire and ice come together?

Excerpt

Bella powered down her computer in time to see her phone buzzing with a message: the limo driver was minutes away. After locking the front door just as the driver pulled up, she waited while he parked and got out of the car to open the door.

“Thank you.” She got in and sighed, feeling torn that she had to work on her day off instead of enjoying a long hike; yet also wanting to be seen as a team player. Resolved that even though she’d agreed to do this favor for Darien, she would accomplish it as quickly as possible and get away to enjoy nature with Corey.

Traffic was light and the car arrived at the estate quicker than she expected. The butler, Mr. Curtis, dressed in a black suit with a starched white shirt, dark tie, and spit-shined black shoes, greeted her at the door. She sensed he disapproved of her casual attire as he looked her over, jutting out his chin, giving her a loud sniff.

“Good morning, Bella. Darien left instructions to take you to Miles’s bedroom to get the papers.”

She hesitated a bit but followed him as he walked up the stairs to the space regarded as off limits.

“This is quite unusual, since Mr. Moore rarely allows employees other than Parker, Darien, or myself in his personal space, but I was assured it would be okay for you to go into his private suite of rooms to search for the contracts in question.”

She was also uncomfortable being in Miles’s private space, but Darien had been frantic when he’d called. He knew NeNe would be angry if all the documents weren’t there for her review even if she was on a conference call with them and not there in person. He assured her Miles wouldn’t be at the house and he would handle any fallout if he discovered she had been in his bedroom without his permission.

“He had a date last night and planned to stay at his penthouse in the city,” Darien had assured her on the phone before she’d agreed to do him the favor.

Bella and Mr. Curtis were at the top of the stairs when she began wondering if changing her plans with Corey was such a good idea. She liked the hardware store entrepreneur and was glad things were working out between them. He seemed okay with her work obligations in general, but she shrugged at the gnawing idea that Corey might not be okay with anything out of the ordinary at AriMusic, especially if it involved close collaborations with its CEO.

Mr. Curtis opened the door to the bedroom, and she took in the view of the massive mahogany bed, with etches of rams carved into the posts. Tastefully decorated, the room had touches of black and bold red accents. There was a very masculine feel to the room.

Looking around, she discovered his desk with papers on top of it. What piqued her curiosity was the old-style lamp filled with oil next to an ornate candle on his desk. She began looking for the papers Darien had asked her to find and didn’t notice the bathroom door opening or the presence of someone else in the room.

“What the—” The loud verbal bomb startled her, causing her to spin around and throw the papers in the air.

Miles abruptly cut off the f-bomb and stood still, a few feet away from her, while she froze as she viewed his nude body. She knew he had a great one, but she’d never imagined she would meet Adonis in this lifetime. His beautiful pecs, six-pack abs, and his.. oh my, made her gasp. His thick muscular legs had her face feeling hot and her heart racing.

“Why are you here, Bella?” He initially made no effort to cover himself.

The papers scattered across the floor, blown by the air currents from the ceiling fan whirling above. “Darien asked for a favor, and he said you wouldn’t be at home. He needed these papers for a meeting later today,” she stammered and tried but couldn’t hide her tremulous voice or the shaking of her hands as she tried to gather the papers.

Breaking her stare, embarrassed by the impropriety of their meeting, she knelt to pick up the papers scattered throughout the room.

The ache in my brain competed with the soreness between my legs. I was on opposite ends of the pain pleasure spectrum in my own body, and I liked it.

I rolled over and gripped my head. It pounded against my skull. I curled into a tight ball. If I reduced the space, the pain would lessen. I hugged my legs to my chest and settled, waited for the pounding to subside.

I blinked my eyes open and slid my hand over the sheets behind me. They were cold.

I sat up suddenly. Bad move. My brain took a minute to catch up. I squeezed my eyes shut and flopped back onto the bed.

Let’s do this in stages.

It was late or early; the sun hadn’t come up yet.

My eyes peeled open. I wiped the crust from the corners as I adjusted onto my side and slowly lifted my head. My dress lay across the foot of the bed. I pushed myself up. The shoes I had on last night were neatly lined up next to the pile of shoes in the corner.

I shifted my legs and the ache in my pussy made me pause. Images from last night pried their way into my consciousness. Kori at the club. Him staring through me while I sang as he bobbed his head to the jazz beats. The intense feeling he was ready to bolt until I acknowledged his presence.

“Oh God.” The walk home and the confession at the corner and then the kiss. It all came flooding back in a wave of embarrassment and lust. I flopped on my back and attempted to rub the image out of my brain through my eyeballs. My body heated with images of Kori on his knees. I could feel the trail of kisses on my stomach. The dirty glint in his eye when he asked me—no, told me to sit on his face. I shuddered.

I slid to the side of the bed and sat up. I placed my feet on the floor. That was enough for right now.

Is love enough to get them through every trauma and heartache together?
