MOST ELIGIBLE BACHELOR

BY EMPI BARYEH

Can their one-night stand turn into something more?

Magazine columnist Chantelle Sah doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day—not since her fiancé’s betrayal three years ago. After botching her first assignment as a feature writer, she’s more than willing to put in a hard day’s work this Valentine’s Day; even if it means going on a date with gorgeous construction Tycoon, Lord McKenzie, and opening herself to an onslaught of all things love.

When Lord—his given name, not a title—sets his sights on Chantelle, it isn’t just work he has on his mind. But even he couldn’t have predicted the magnetic attraction between them when they meet, nor the evening ending with more than an interview. Now he has to convince Chantelle that their one-night stand wasn’t a mistake.

The kiss intensified, the urgency of their unified desires racing through them. His hands swept down her body to cup her butt. Instinctively, she curved her arms around his nape rendering support as he lifted her, bringing her feminine mound up to meet the thick length of his arousal. She moaned, shivered. The mermaid cut of her evening gown halted her attempt to wrap her legs around his waist. With a whimper of frustration, she pulled back.

“Stupid dress,” she mumbled.

The sound of his deep chuckle did nothing to lessen the sexual energy gripping them.

“If we were dancing right now, would you let me lead you through a death drop?” he asked, still holding her against his arousal and not releasing her from his gaze. “Without hesitation?”

She quirked her brows, but his earnest expression made her realise his question wasn’t about an obsession with the dance move. He wanted to know if she trusted him.

“Yes,” she answered.

“Do you believe I won’t let anything happen tonight that you’re not ready for?”

She nodded.

He eased her back to her feet. “Lift up your dress.”

#Review “Unwrapping Hanie” by Empi Baryeh

cover

~~~
5/5 Stars!
Hanie Morrison is at a crossroads and moving forward doesn’t seem to be an option.
As Christmas approaches, her younger sister is off to celebrate her wedding anniversary and her parents are off on a dream vacation. The good thing is there’ll be no one to remind her of her single-status. The bad thing is… she’ll be alone.
The one bright spot in Hanie’s life is Trojan aka Peter, her online dating friend.
With her last relationship ending in betrayal almost two years ago, fears and doubts rule Hanie. She believed she and her ex were heading for the altar, and he was, just not with her.
Yet, there’s something about Peter that calls to Hanie’s body… and heart. The overly cautious paralegal reminds herself it’s just online fun and it’s temporary. Peter will soon forget about her as easily as her ex did and walk away. Even easier since he’s in the UK and she’s in Ghana.
Until he isn’t.
A planned meeting during the holidays goes too perfectly and advice from a well-meaning friend causes a misunderstanding. Hanie needs to decide if she will continue to be afraid or be bold.
I enjoyed this read with its realistic characters!
Hanie over-thought everything. Not judging her. It’s understandable, considering how her ex treated her. She feels as inadequate as her family thinks she is for not being “married with children.” But her flaws fade when she chats with Peter and Hanie feels the woman she always wanted to be fighting for her voice.
Nursing a broken heart of his own, Peter is a decent guy. He’s yet to tell Hanie how he feels about her but everything about her pulls him closer, especially her honesty.
On the surface, Unwrapping Hanie is a sweet holiday romance. But this author has turned up the heat… and doused it with gasoline! WOW!
The passion between Hanie and Peter has been a slow burn during their six-month online friendship and when they meet, the intensity rocks them both as they explore each other’s body bringing fantasies to life and I’m here for it!
The ending is a solid HEA, but I’m looking forward to the special epilogue being released tomorrow. Download this read today so you don’t miss out!
Enjoy!
EXCERPT
Her gaze didn’t waver from Peter whose eyes darkened with desire. He swallowed. She’d never felt sexier. Slowly, she released her grip on the dress, letting it slide down, exposing the top rise of her breasts.
He licked his lips. Despite his quickening breath revealed by the heavy rise and fall of his massive chest, he didn’t take a single step forward.
She let the dress glide down her body and revelled in his heated gaze devouring her nakedness, which bolstered her to take a bold step. Turning her back to him, she bent over slowly to unbuckle her strappy sandals.
“Leave the shoes on,” he said, his voice raspy.
She froze for a second and began to raise herself.
“No. Let me enjoy the view.”
Finally, he took a step forward. She trembled with anticipation. Was he going to take her like this? Her intimate muscles spasmed as he approached. He stopped inches behind her, placed his hands on her ass, and her knees nearly buckled.
“Peter, I want to touch you,” she said.
He groaned, caressing her butt cheeks.
“Sweet, Hanie.” He moved one hand down to her core, letting his finger circle her opening. “You started with the teasing.”
Felicia’s Review
5/5 Stars!
India Saene feels she’s fallen down a patriarchal rabbit hole when she wakes from a coma to find herself married to her husband’s brother, Omar, the new would-be king. A tragic car accident only hours after her wedding has left the independent, educated woman a widow… and an inherited wife.
She’d agreed to the first arranged marriage out of service to her country, but she’d had no say in the second. To complicate matters, she can’t leave the marriage without devastating her country and insulting her husband’s country, and Omar finds evidence his brother’s death may have been murder… and India could be involved.
Explaining to Omar why she looks guilty would put others in danger and India isn’t prepared to do that. But danger is closer to her than she realizes.
India is also intensely drawn to and developing feelings for Omar… two things she hadn’t had for his brother. Finding he has feelings for her doesn’t lessen India’s misery.
As Omar works to clear India’s name, he’s blindsided when he’s challenged for the throne by his uncle.
India and Omar are great characters who maybe both have a bit too much pride. They can’t move forward without dropping their guard and it seems near impossible for them. This sensual romance is a bumpy ride with a couple of plot twists you won’t see coming, and a good case of crazy for the books.
Book two in the Royal House of Saene series delivers mystery, suspense, and romance and I highly recommend it!
Enjoy!
#Review “Expecting Ty’s Baby” by Empi Baryeh
~~~

Expecting Ty's Baby cover

~~~
5/5 Stars!
I’m usually anti-baby in my romance stories. Not because I hate babies, but because I’ve read so many that didn’t completely sell me on the couple being together (or convinced themselves either), before a surprise baby was added like Bondo, sealing them together for all eternity. Oh, yeah… and they’re in lurve.
Kthanxbye.
But this author is three-for-three with me (with two more on the TBR), always delivering a satisfying read, so I had to go all-in on Expecting Ty’s Baby.
Financial consultant Ty Webber meets beauty consultant Patricia Owusu while on a job assignment in Ghana. They click and agree to a one-week, no-strings fling. They have a great week and then it’s bon voyage as Ty heads back to the states.
But he spends the next three months consumed with thoughts of Patricia, remembering all the little things about her and how other women don’t measure up. It goes against everything Ty believes in. He doesn’t do relationships and getting involved isn’t part of his ten-year-plan.
Patricia isn’t faring any better in Ghana, but she does sex, not relationships. She tries to push Ty from her mind and work on opening her own business when she finds out she’s pregnant.
Surprised, shocked, and saddened, the ever-practical Patricia decides to have her baby and continue to move forward… and not tell Ty about the baby. She’s in Ghana, he’s in New York and there’s no sense in building false hope.
Besides, men always leave.
But Fate has other plans for this couple when their best friends, Thane and Naaki, become engaged and plan a Ghanaian wedding.
Guess who’s the maid-of-honor and best man?
The battle of wills begin with Ty’s return, but it’s not just Ty against Patricia, but each of them against scarred childhoods that shaped the people they’ve become. Who wins?
Patricia is stubborn! But not obnoxious you’re-not-the-boss-of-me stubborn. She’s pragmatic, playing the hand she was dealt on her own terms. She’s on the fast-track to transform her high-profile on-site beauty consultancy into a brick and mortar business. She has no time for the guaranteed heartbreak love brings.
Ty has made a name for himself in high finance on four continents, but he’s eager to return to Ghana, and not just for the wedding.
The sense of belonging he’s yearned for since childhood and the connection to his ancestral roots surround and calm him in Ghana. And then there’s the captivating woman occupying his thoughts.
Ty and Patricia are both likable and their positions are easy to understand. However, Patricia had me rolling my eyes when she committed the Typical Romance Heroine dumb move. I understood her reasoning… but it was just dumb.
Emotions runs high when the truth of Patricia’s sad childhood is revealed, but will it free her or continue to keep her closed off?
The wisdom of our elders will always steer us in the right direction—if we take the time to listen—and it’s no different here. Patricia’s mom, Aunty Ama, and great-aunt, Menaesi, are priceless and enrich every scene they’re in.
Excited about their upcoming wedding, Thane and Naaki still take the time to be supportive friends and try to steer Ty and Patricia in the right direction, whether or not they want to hear it. (Loved the week of Yes!)
However, my favorite supporting character was African culture.
From the heartbreak of the slave trade through Cape Ghost Castle to the cultural pomp and circumstance of the marriage ceremony to the proper way to greet a visitor and why, the beauty of tradition is seamlessly woven throughout the story, enhancing it and making it a learning experience.
Expecting Ty’s Baby is an enjoyable romance that challenges preconceived notions, proves you can never say never, and underscores the fact we don’t always know ourselves as well as we believe we do. Kudos to the author for wiping the cynical smirk from my face.
Don’t miss out on this one!.
Enjoy!
EXCERPT
“I don’t need taking care of, you know,” Patricia said when they stepped outside. Her voice came out low, a whisper, which nonetheless projected in the still warmth of the night.
After several seconds without a response from him, she turned sideways. He stared ahead, his profile stoic. Finally, she heard his deep intake of breath.
He looked at her, and thunder might as well have struck after the flash of…annoyance? Impatience? Incredulity?
“Are you always on the defensive?”
Aggravation. Despite the balmy, breezeless air, Patricia shivered. Perhaps she should have been scared, but she wasn’t. Somehow, Ty didn’t strike her as the kind of man whose patience wore thin as easily as wind blew away flakes of cotton. Yet, she also realized she’d pushed a button or two between yesterday and today.
She began to say something, but her response staggered as she realized she didn’t know how to answer his question. She sighed. “It’s always been just me and my mum. I guess I’m simply used to having to stick up for myself.”
His look softened. “Trish, I know you’re a strong woman. Hell, it’s one of the things I admire about you. But did it occur to you I only wanted some alone time with you?”
She couldn’t help it. She giggled. “You could have just said so.”
“In that case, how about this?”
He faced her fully, subjecting her to a powerful blast of his magnetism. Electricity jolted through her, and she realized he’d touched her; warmth infused her body where his hands bracketed her waist.
The next instant, she was plastered against him, her soft abdomen privy to the state of his desire. His heated breath wafted over her face, a mix of him and the whiskey he’d had at dinner. An avalanche of sensations, fierce and unrelenting hit her in the gut.
Then the worst thing happened. The most embarrassing moment of her life.
She threw up.
On him.
For several seconds, she could only stare in horror at her dinner, now a less than palatable concoction splattered on Ty’s clothes and shoes.
He still held her as she doubled over, one hand on her shoulder, the other rubbing her back.
“Trish, what’s going on?” He pushed back a few strands of her braids hanging loose from the confines of her up do.
“I am so sorry,” she said.
“We need to get you to a hospital.”
Crap! Her stomach lurched again, and she figured out what had triggered the emesis. Thankfully, what came out the second time was minimal. She took in a deep breath, exhaling through her mouth. It seemed to help.
Ty held up the bottle of water he’d taken with him from dinner. “Here—”
“Please stop talking,” she gasped, turning away from him. “I need a minute.”
“This could be food poisoning. You need a doctor.”
“I don’t, and it’s not food poisoning. It’s the alcohol.”
“You didn’t drink.”
“No, but you did.”
His features assumed a frown, his confusion absolute. “You’re sick because I drank?”
“I’m not sick. I’m—”
She stopped abruptly, tossing different possible explanations in her head, all of them partial truths. No matter what anyone said, keeping quiet and outright lying were not the same. She wasn’t prepared to do the latter, but she’d spoilt her chances of doing the former.
“I’m…uh.”
His eyes narrowed. “You’re what?”
“I’m…”
Shiiit.
She couldn’t believe she was going to tell him. “I’m pregnant, Ty.”
Facing the loss of the business he’s worked hard for, Tiago is desperate too. And when someone presents him with a way out: seduce Amaka and get her to give you money, he is sorely tempted.
Should he do it? After all, it’s just sex, isn’t it?
What could go wrong?
About Sable RoseS. Rose
Hi, my name is Sable Rose and I revel in being different. I’m a romance writer and the author of erotic M/F contemporary and paranormal romances and action adventures.
My books feature outspoken, independent and intelligent women who know what they want (and what they don’t want), and who are not afraid to make the first move to get their man, if they have to. Their men are always swoon-worthy hunks, each a blend of naughty and nice that women find so irresistible.
My passion is writing and I write only what my characters tell me to write. I write morning, afternoon, night. Who needs sleep? Yes, I’m a writing addict.
In between writing-phew-I also read-a lot. And watches lots of TV and movies. I love dancing, listening to great music and I dream of one day being able to find time to learn both pole-dancing and belly dancing.
I wish…
I adore traveling, and have visited over 15 countries and have formed friendships with people of varying cultures. I use these experiences to craft my stories.
I live in Lagos, Nigeria. No dogs yet. Definitely, no cats…
