What I love about Zoe is her personality isn’t reactive—her mood and responses don’t depend necessarily with how she’s approached—she’s the same with everyone.
The youngest and smallest (she’s 4’9”) in a family of eight kids, Zoe grew up in SoCal fighting for her place in the family and staking her claim. (As one of nine kids, I can relate to that!)
When she’s old enough, Zoe leaves the sedate, laidback California lifestyle for the diverse chaos of New York City. By the time she’s twenty-four, she runs her own successful social media business from her apartment…and has employees! (Because “she is the Goddess of All Things Media… with a crown and everything.”)
When a pesky supernatural entity comes sniffing around her apartment, Zoe isn’t alarmed—she’s had the crash course in demons. But when she learns he intends to drag her bestie back to hell to secure HIS freedom, the game is on!
Hex, the demon of Temptation, doesn’t know what to make of the diminutive Zoe. He’s used to humans ready to bargain their souls away for trivial things like wealth and power, but his powers are useless on Zoe—she wants nothing more than what she has. And, she also appears to not fear him. (Probably because she’s always trying to attack him! HA!)
Moving away from his plot of kidnapping Pheldra, Hex knows Abaddon will kill Zoe out of spite and he is determined to save Zoe… whether she likes it or not… and trust me, she doesn’t. “… Nothing she could grab quickly and eat on her way outside—like donuts or pop-tarts. Hex should have been dubbed the Demon of Nutrition, because that had to be a thing.”
As these two go from combatants to frenemies to allies to lovers, their dynamic does not change and their honesty with each other is on point! “… she hated how much that made her feel something for him beyond smoldering lust and the desire to strangle the sh*t out of him, because it complicated matters.”
Their end-goal is the same and though they have different ideas about how to accomplish it, either path could cost Hex his life. Hex will do what he must to keep Zoe and Kami alive, but is Zoe willing to sacrifice his life? Does she have a choice?
This author brings her A game with another mind-blowing installment in the Hell on Earth saga. It’s not warm and it’s not comfy. It IS intelligent and challenging on several levels… in a good way! You could read Hexed without reading the first three novellas, but I don’t recommend it. Any reader would get lost in the numerous references to past situations, not to mention the premise for Hexed is based on something that has already happened.

First, they must deal with what Tessa overheard in the conversation between Felix and Louis. She has serious doubts and reservations, and I can’t blame her. No one wants to be second best or a replacement… period! Doesn’t matter the lifestyle or relationship.
Felix went a long way to assuage her doubts, but not far enough for me. The man protesteth a bit too much for me which can only mean…he’s hiding something!

Tessa’s a bit off balance but holding her own. I like that her internal thoughts are never too far from what she actually says. Same goes for Felix.
These two have to build a foundation of trust within the six remaining days in order for them both to get the benefit of their time together.
Why the trust?
Because the kink factor is off the charts! (HA!)
Felix went over Tessa’s personal file even before the auction and knows what her hard limits are.
And maaaan! Does he push that envelope?! And Tessa loves it.
Which is why I enjoy this author’s books so much… because I KNOW Tessa. Her thoughts and feelings are conveyed in such a manner that I already KNOW how she’s going to react when Felix introduces a new kink.
Felix is also well-written in that his thoughts are dominant and male, not simply what a woman would want a man to think or say.
You don’t need to be knowledgeable in Power Exchange to enjoy Scavenger. This author weaves explanations through dialogue and thoughts with such subtleness, you don’t even realize you’re being schooled. I don’t necessarily need to know the why behind what drives their needs, just that that it’s all well thought out and consensual.
New characters are introduced in Scavenger and more is learned about Louis. Taber’s a hoot! Domme Alise Moreau slithers into the mix and I dislike her as much as Tessa does.
I like that Felix typed up a contract, no matter that it was a short list. Tessa had never been in a D/s situation without one and it made her feel more secure. She’s open and honest to a fault. Can Felix reciprocate? Time for some revelations, confessions and epiphanies!

His wet fingers abandoned the inside of her throat, cupping the curve of her jaw, and his mouth crushed down on hers.
It was a whole new kind of oral sex. That was the only way to describe the aggressive, needy assault. Settling back in the seat, he returned the mask to its rightful place and forced her down onto her knees again. His thumb picked up its previous stroking over her lips, but when her bound wrists slid down the hard plane of his stomach and into his lap, there was no mistaking the bulging line of his erection. Once she was on her feet, he grabbed her bound wrists and started leading her across old asphalt. Her heels clicked and wobbled in the rough patches. She thought she heard water lapping and a nearby buoy. It definitely smelled like the docks. The way the noise and voices echoed indicated they were surrounded by warehouses or giant shipping containers.
Again, it should have been a red flag, but Kami wasn’t afraid, only morbidly curious. It took her a moment to realize they were drawing closer to the pulsing bass of music. Her escort paused for a moment before a door opened and it washed over them loud and clear. They stopped directly inside to wait for everyone. When the metal door finally closed, her bull man untied the blindfold.
Blinking in the dimly lit entrance, Kami saw that it was a makeshift foyer with draping velveteen crimson, black-and-white jack-o-lanterns, Gothic candelabras, antiqued mirrors, and other décor that would indicate they were getting ready to enter a vampire’s secret lair. Even the music thumping and crawling over her flesh was more along the lines of Screamo-Goth-Rave, than the Dubstep bass would suggest.
“You know, there are at least a hundred different horror movies that begin this way,” she referred to the space around them by drawing a small square in the air with her index fingers.
A more difficult task than one would think with bound wrists.
“That’s what makes decorating so easy,” he said, pulling her against his body to slip a hand under her skirt and take his fill of her ass cheek. “The question is, was that just an observation or cold feet?”
“My feet never get cold,” she replied.
She barely heard the low rumble of his laugh when he bowed his head right beside her ear. “Careful, demon. Some might take that answer as a deliberate challenge.”
