4/5 Stars!
Intense from the start, Night Fall is an intriguing read.
Cults, traumatic childhoods, a serial killer with a twisted prophesy, and a superbug that makes Covid19 look tame keep the suspense high.
Fulfilling her dream of becoming an agent with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, Alex Donovan is blind-sided when, in order to stop a madman, she must do something she promised herself she’d never do and return to her old hometown. An estranged aunt has a copy of The Book, a bible-like tome of the secretive cult, The Circle.
A serial killer is using The Book to fulfill a prophesy where only the worthy are left standing.
Alex has to face down her demons, her personal relationship with a murderer, and a budding romance with her partner while trying to stop the plot that would devastate the planet.
I liked Alex. Though she seems distracted a great deal of the time, she’s a good agent. She knows ignoring and burying her past isn’t the answer, but she’s not sure if she’s ready to face it. But people are dying and she has to move forward or more will die. Millions more.
Tightly written, Night Fall has near-perfect pacing with a slow build to the climax. It’s good versus evil, light versus dark in this high-stakes cat and mouse game.
Enjoy!

Synopsis:
Now that Alexandra “Alex” Donavan is finally free of her troubled upbringing, she’s able to live out her childhood dream of working for the FBI. But soon after she becomes a member of the FBI’s elite Behavioral Analysis Unit, authorities in Kansas and Missouri contact them about bodies found on freight trains traveling across the country–all killed in the same way.
Alex never expected to be forced to confront her past in this new job, but she immediately recognizes the graffiti messages the killer is leaving on the train cars. When the BAU sends her to gather information about the messages from her aunt in Wichita, Kansas, Alex is haunted by the struggles she thought she’d left behind forever.
In a race against time to solve the case while battling her own weaknesses, Alex must face how far she’ll go–and what she’s willing to risk–to put a stop to the Train Killer.
