I was glued to this read from page one.
We meet the rather pathetic Evan Ripley. I thought he was on his way to a date. Then things got creepy when he sounded more like a stalker. Before the chapter ended, I pegged Evan as the killer. But it wasn’t long before I was like wait a minute! WHAT JUST HAPPENED? Suddenly The Hashtag Killer became a bumpy ride. A very bumpy ride.
Told in multiple points of view, each one aids in weaving a great plot together while getting to know the characters.
DI Jen Flowers is the perfect lead character… because she isn’t perfect. Her past is ugly, and her present isn’t rosy as she struggles to be a good cop and a good mother, and she’s failing at one of the two badly.
Social media and the Internet are the backdrop for the story… in all its good and bad. From overnight sensations and trends to mob mentality to stalkers and sexual predators, the killer depends on the lightning-fast sharing of information to further his gruesome crusade.
Tight suspense and a great ending prove Jen Flowers is up to the job of unmasking a killer, and that this read is not one to miss.
