Mammon of the Dire Wolves is too good of a soldier to go against orders. But obsession has a way of breaking you down, and even a shifter as disciplined as he has trouble going with the grain when there’s a fated connection dragging him the other way. Too bad that connection is to a woman he sees as his enemy.
Charmeine was brought up in luxury and wealth as the ward of a shifter businessman, even if that business wasn’t quite the legal kind. Money can’t stop hate, though, a fact proven by a ruthless band of shifters intent on destroying her family. Years of fighting—and losing—means she doesn’t trust strangers, especially not the one on the wrong side of the war the fates decided to tie her to.
One soldier breaking rules and ignoring orders, one princess dead set against falling for the enemy, and a group of killers with a single-minded focus on ending them both. For Dire Wolves, following a direct order from their leader should be as simple as breathing. But a single glance makes simple the harder choice and forces Mammon to risk his brotherhood to protect the mate he hates to love.

Penelope is able to see past many differences in her friends and learns that friendship is not about judging others. Penelope wants other children to see that behaviors are not characteristics of who a person is and that being a friend is what is really important.
I have worked many years with children who suffer emotional disturbance due to poverty, abuse, mental illness. These students were out-placed in the clinical day school I was a teacher at. I know that the parents of the typical kids could not stand that there was that “one kid” who disrupted everyone. So I wrote this book to teach kids that you can still be friends with “that kid”.

This week’s theme is “End/Finish/Over/Stop.”

As the first anniversary of my husband’s passing approaches next weekend, I’m just as surprised at how fast the year has gone as I am how far I’ve come.
On my worst days when I wanted to hide under the covers or veg out in a corner, I could hear Den saying, “Nope. That’s not an option. Get up and get moving, babe.”
There were days I was grateful for the push, but there were still times when I was resentful and angry. It was during those times, I seem to be more aware of Den’s presence, patient and practical, guiding me to do things over and over again to find a rhythm and my flow again… to get back to me.
I used Over and Over by Ewanya “Puff” Johnson in February of 2017 for the “hills and mountains” prompt, but I’ve been playing it daily for the last few months for its driving motivation to keep going. To live and not simply exist. It also makes me smile remembering how much Den teased me about playing it.
Sometimes memories are all we have, but they come to mind just when we need them the most.
Over and Over appeared on the soundtrack of The First Wives Club in 1996. Released as a single in Europe and Australia, it was a Top 20 hit on both continents.
FUN FACTS:
After finishing a tour in 2009, Puff stayed in South Africa for a year because of the nice treatment she received. Puff said she’d had never met people as friendly and welcoming as South Africans. She and her music are still popular there seven years after her death.
Puff toured Europe in 1997 as an opening act for Michael Jackson.
Her 1996 critically acclaimed debut album, Miracle, was produced by Randy Jackson of American Idol-fame.
This talented young artist’s life was cut short far too soon. The Detroit native died in 2013 after a seven-year battle with cervical cancer.

Over and Over

Songwriter: Philip James Bailey, Jeff Pescetto, Reed Philip Vertelney
So you stood there on the corner
With your suitcase in your hand
Ready to quit this place
There were just too many people
With too little left to lose
You were just one more face
But you weren’t born to give up easy
You weren’t raised to just lie down
And you saw the sun that rises up for more
Over and over
You watch the wave that wears away the shore
Over and over again
And if there’s any justice in this world
Gotta keep fighting on
Over and over
They say God always forgives us
But can we forgive ourselves
If we let our hope die
Cause if passion is a weakness
And silence is a strength
Who’s gonna hear the cry?
So we gotta climb the highest mountain
We gotta shout for all to hear
And we’ll see the sun that rises up for more
Over and over and over
And we’ll feel the wave that wears away the shore
Over and over and over again
And if there’s any justice in this world
Gotta keep moving on
Over and over
You gotta keep fighting on
Over and over
(All that we dream)
All that we dream can come to be
All that we lost we’ll find if we
Just strike the match
And fan the flame
We’ll build a blaze
That lights the way
We’ll be the sun that rises up for more
Over and over
We’ll be the wave that wears away the shore
Over and over again
And if there’s any justice in this world
You gotta keep moving on
Over and over
Gotta keep fighting on
We’ll be the star that rises up
Over and over
Over and over and over and over
‘Cause if there’s any justice in this world
You gotta keep moving on
Over and over
You gotta keep moving on
You gotta keep fighting on
Over and over
Over and over again
