Song Lyric Sunday was created by Helen Vahdati from This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time and author Jim Adams from A Unique Title For Me is our current guest host. For complete rules or to join in the fun, click here.
This week’s theme is “I/Me/Them/Us/You/We.”
~~~~~~~~~~
I found over three dozen songs in my playlists that included the word you. I narrowed it down to ten, then two, based on song rotations… and I still couldn’t decide.
So you get both! 😀
So Into You, performed by Canadian R&B singer Tamia, was released as the third single from her self-titled debut album on June 23, 1998. The song became an R&B hit, peaking at number seven on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Soul rock power ballad, Move You, is from Kelly Clarkson eighth studio album, Meaning of Life. It was released as a promotional single only in September of 2017. While I love the entire album, Move You, IMHO, is the best track and should have had a wide release.
FUN FACTS
- The music video for So Into You was created by Harvey White and premiered on American TV in June 1998. It reached the top ten on BET’s video countdown and received a Directorial Debut of the Year nomination at the MVPA Awards.
- The concept of the video was based on Tamia and Grant Hill (her future husband) having to be in a sort of long distance relationship at the beginning due to his travel. (They married in 1999.)
- In 2003, amid the recording of her third album More, doctors at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina diagnosed Tamia with multiple sclerosis. The singer went into subsequent treatment, using corticosteroids to help delay the onset of more severe symptoms. Diagnosed early, the illness has since been in remission though she has occasional but controllable symptoms.
- Kelly Clarkson premiered Move You live on The Today Show on September 8, 2017, followed by a reprise on the television special EIF Presents: XQ Super School Live the same evening.
Enjoy!
So Into You
Thoughts of you run through my head
Every time that I’m near
I realize that your heaven sent, baby
I think you’re truly something special
Just what my dreams are really made of
Let’s stay together, you and me boy
There’s no one like you around, oh baby
What you’ve done to me
I can’t really explain it
I’m so into you
I really like
What you’ve done to me
I can’t really explain it
I’m so into you
It could be the things that you say
(That you say)
Oh I’m not sure what it is boy
But I know I like feeling this way
Just what my dreams are really made of
Let’s stay together, you and be boy
There’s no one like around, oh baby
What you’ve done to me
I can’t really explain it
I’m so into you
I really like
What you’ve done to me
I can’t really explain it
I’m so into you
What you’ve done to me
I can’t really explain it
I’m so into you
I really like
What you’ve done to me
I can’t really explain it
I’m so into you
Move You
Like the first time that you listen to your favorite singer live
Like an echo in a canyon
Like tears, but you’re not sad
Like a sunrise on a mountain
I wanna move you like that
When a lyric really gets you and it breaks you down inside
Like the home that you were raised in
Like faded photographs
Like the thrill of Christmas morning
Yeah, I wanna move you like that
Like a choir shouts amen (amen)
Like your first time falling in love on a stairway up to heaven
Like a soldier who is falling as he holds his country’s flag
And he fights for freedom’s calling
I wanna move you like that
I wanna move you like that (oh, oh)
Oh, like that, oh (oh, oh)
I wanna move you like that (like that)
(Oh, oh)
(I wanna move you)
Like a hope that fuels the light
Like the hands that simply hold you, when words can’t make it right
Like the first time that I met you, I fell so hard, so fast
Like that montage in a movie
Mmm, the way you move me
I wanna move you like that
I thought this was gonna be So Into You By Atlanta Rhythm Section, but was pleasingly surprised by this song even though it is totally different.
Both very pretty songs. Tamia is a new one for me – love the lyrics. I do like a lot of Kelly’s songs, too. 🙂
When I saw “So Into You,” I was expecting the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Glad it wasn’t that one.
I know someone with multiple sclerosis and she is also able to deal with it, but she has her bad days. Kelly Clarkson has a lovely voice, thanks for sharing both of these wonderful songs.
I have three cousins and a niece with MS…all vary in severity, but it’s a daily struggle.
Thanks for stopping by, Jim. 😊
I love So Into You! Beautiful. I agree that you don’t get this sound so much these days. It’s all techno now.
Though she’s been nominated for Grammys six times, I believe Tamia has always been underrated and underappreciated. Such a great voice! 😊
Unfortunately so many are and too many are overrated 😏
I so miss 90s RnB. You don’t get those same sounds these days.
Agreed! I pay very little attention to contemporary music these days. Just doesn’t have or invoke the same feelings.
