It’s 1907 Los Angeles. Mischievous socialite Anna Blanc is the kind of young woman who devours purloined crime novels, but must disguise them behind covers of more domestically-appropriate reading. She could match wits with Sherlock Holmes, but in her world women are not allowed to hunt criminals. Determined to break free of the era’s rigid social roles, Anna buys off the chaperone assigned by her domineering father and, using an alias, takes a job as a police matron with the Los Angeles Police Department. There she discovers a string of brothel murders, which the cops are unwilling to investigate. Seizing her one chance to solve a crime, she takes on the investigation herself. If the police find out, she’ll get fired; if her father finds out, he’ll disown her; and if her fiancé finds out, he’ll cancel the wedding. Midway into her investigation, the police chief’s son, Joe Singer, learns her true identity, and shortly thereafter she learns about blackmail. Anna must choose – either hunt the villain and risk losing her father, fiancé, and wealth, or abandon her dream and leave the killer on the loose.

EXCERPT
Chapter 4 Book – RestoreHER Purpose
At one point I had big dreams and aspirations that made me feel excited and alive, but that was before I decided it was easier to just play it safe and live life by the rules. Rules that told me to go to college, get a good job, save for retirement, take care of my family, and live happily ever after. But I knew deep down inside I could do more; be more, but I was afraid of the uncertainty that was on the other side of my dreams and every time I started to think of the possibilities, I snapped back to reality and recommitted myself to going the safe route.
Work, marriage, raising children, school, all of these have demanded my time at one point in my life or another. For the most part my life was good, but I couldn’t help but feel disconnected from the passion that others feel about their work and life in general. The deepest part of me knew it was possible, but I just wasn’t sure where to start. And like most people, early in my life, seeking God for purpose took a back seat. I mistakenly believed that if the people around me were okay then I must be living my purpose, right? Wrong. There was something missing. I was constantly asking myself, “Is this IT?! Isn’t there more to life than THIS?!” But I didn’t share those questions with anyone because nobody else seemed to ‘get it.’ I was “successful” in the eyes of a lot of people so, I felt guilty and ungrateful! You see, somewhere along the way I lost the excitement that of living the life my soul intended in exchange for the mundane, responsible adulthood I was told to live. In my heart though, I knew I could do more; be more. And although I didn’t know exactly what that was or what my next steps were, I knew I couldn’t carry on like this forever. I was spending every waking moment searching for the missing link everywhere. But I’ll let you in on a little secret. The missing link was in me and it’s in you too.

Testimonials and Praise for RestoreHER:
After reading Chapter 4 it stirred up some things on the inside of me and activated my journey to connect back with my purpose. For over 20 years I have fulfilled another mans passion and allowed my own purpose to die, however after reading this chapter I’m getting back on track and moving forward. As I began to reminisce growing up as a young girl, it was brought back to my memory the things that I spoke and meditated on over my life regarding what I wanted to be when I grew up. This brought forth a sense of excitement and child like faith all over again. I sense my purpose has awakened it will be fulfilled and lives will be changed for the better because the desire God placed on the inside of me shall come to pass! Thanks for the opportunity to share. ~ Sheronda Odums
I want to thank you for allowing me an opportunity to read a chapter of your upcoming book. OH MY GOODNESS…that first chapter was enthralling! From the self-discovery {knowing oneself}, to the self-image {loving oneself}, to allowing our mistakes to grow us and not define us {mindset mastery}, it truly spoke volumes to what every woman, of every race, at various ages are experiencing. Because we live in a society where the snake-talk media has a strong influence on trendsetting, the power to body-shame with the click of a button, and the exploitation and degrading of women are the new norm, it poses a challenge for a woman to stay true to herself. Her identity then becomes lost due to her thinking that who she is or who she would like to become isn’t acceptable and therefore frowned upon. It’s exhilarating to have a book that inspires women to live their best life, reassuring them that it’s perfectly fine to follow those BIG dreams they had as little girls; to embrace who they are currently while enthusiastically looking forward to the women God is calling them and creating them to be; to “revivify” what was dead in their life…the inspiring beauty of being a woman! I am eagerly awaiting the release of the book so I can be an evangelist. ~ Nekata Jones
The chapter entitled RestoreHer Health was an enlightening account of what can happen, when we do not make our health a priority. Cheryl allows us through her own transparent testimony, to realize that we must take our health seriously and offers important information to help us to be more proactive. ~ Jaime Washington

I’ve chosen another smooth groove R&B oldie that has remained on my playlists in one form or another since my teen years.
Oh Honey was a Top Ten hit for Delegation in 1978. The song about a man’s undying affection for his lady-love was the go-to slow dance song at house parties and clubs, and always in the line-up for any Quiet Storm jam session.
No one knew anything about Delegation at the time, so imagine everyone’s surprise to find out they were a British group! That made them a novelty and even more popular for the next two years.
Oh Honey reached #6 on the U.S. Billboard R&B Chart and #45 on the U.S. Billboard Pop chart.
While Delegation would enjoy success internationally well into the 80s (especially in France), their last song to chart in the U.S. was In Love’s Time in 1981 which peaked at #54 on the U.S. R&B.
FUN FACTS
Ricky Bailey founded Delegation — a three-man group that changed members frequently, with Bailey the only constant — in the United Kingdom in 1975. Bailey, a native of Jamaica, moved to Britain with his parents as a teen, settling in Birmingham, where he formed his first group, the Five Star Cadets. The short-lived group provided invaluable experience and helped Bailey when he was putting Delegation (Bailey, Len Coley, and Roddy Harris) together.
In 1979, Delegation released Eau De Vie, on the Ariola label and had international hits with Heartache #9, You And I and Put A Little Love On Me.
Bailey and Ken Gold formed Euro-Jam Records in the mid-90s to repackage Delegation recordings and record artists.
The band still occasionally perform their old hits at gigs around Europe led by Rick Bailey and several former band members, most recently appearing in a sold out gig at an intimate venue in Paris in October 2018.

Oh honey
When I get lost, feel I’ve been crossed
She will be my salvation
When I feel low, I’ve nowhere to go
She’ll be my inspiration
Yeah, when my poor heart is breakin’ apart
She’ll put it back together
She ain’t the kind to show off her mind
But talkin’ of love she’s clever, yeah
Oh, honey (Oh, honey)
Oh, honey (Oh, honey)
She rarely spends time with her friends
Tells me she’s blue without me
When things go wrong her faith is strong
I know she’ll never doubt me
Yeah, when she arrives and stands by my side
Makes me so proud to know her
High-steppin’ dames with high-soundin’ names
There ain’t nothin’ they could show her, yeah
Oh, honey (My honey)
Oh, honey (Honey, honey)
Now I just wanna thank you, baby
For givin’ me a brand new start
I was goin’ down, you saved me
When you let me in your lovin’ heart, yeah
