Song Lyric Sunday | “Believe” – Josh Groban

Song Lyric Sunday was created by Helen Vahdati from This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time and author Jim Adams from A Unique Title For Me is our current guest host. For complete rules or to join in the fun, click here.

This week’s theme is  Train Songs.

Christmas is less than ninety days away so you know what that means? Time for a Christmas song! 😀

Though trains are only mentioned once in Believe, the song immediately brings to mind the holiday computer-animated action adventure, The Polar Express from 2004. Whether you’ve read the book, bought the soundtrack or seen the movie poster, you know all prominently feature a large black locomotive.

The film tells the story of a young boy who, on Christmas Eve, sees a mysterious train bound for the North Pole stop outside his window and is invited aboard by its conductor. The boy joins several other children as they embark on a journey to visit Santa Claus preparing for Christmas.

  • The songwriters received a Grammy Award for Believe in the category Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media at the ceremony held in February 2006.
  • The Polar Express is listed in the 2006 Guinness World Records as the first all-digital capture film.
  • Believe never broke into the Billboard Hot 100, rising only to #112, but it spent five weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks charts and became Groban’s fourth most popular song on the adult contemporary chart, under To Where You Are and O Holy Night in 2002 and You Raise Me Up earlier the same year.

  1. Christmas already started here in Japan when Costco decided to put a small corner of Xmas decorations for sell. lol (Also, because the consumption tax will jump to 10% on Tuesday, stores are selling Xmas early as the number of consumers might drop in August).

But, Josh Groban is like the heart of Christmas, right? I saw this post and was like, “It’s Josh Groban, so it will be a Xmas song!” But a beautiful song!

  2. Felecia this is such a soothing song and real enjoyable music. What kid wouldn’t want to go to the North Pole to see the reindeer, the elves and eat some of Mrs. Santa’s home made cookies. I was thinking about including a Christmas/Holiday theme this year, but that is a while away yet.

  3. This is a lovely song…however, it is much too early! What are you doing to me Nesie? They should be confined to one week, maximum two weeks in December, to save me from losing my mind!!!
This year I will be doing some hours in a medical practice that has the radio on all day long, so I will not be able to escape the ding a ding dong, sha la la, jingling, ringing Christmas songs which go round and round again. I might have to invest in ear-plugs!

    1. 🤣🤣🤣

Oops! Sowwy! I play Christmas music like Luther Vandross and Josh Groban year-round. I love the feel and sentiment of the holiday.

What I don’t love is going into stores before Halloween and seeing Christmas decorations or stores opening at 4am the day after Thanksgiving so people can swarm in like locusts to “save 50%!” on ugly sweaters that have been marked up 90%.

But Christmas music? I can live with Christmas music. 😜😄😉 Have a great Sunday! 😊👍
