A Wedding in Cornwall gets as much of its charm from the bucolic coastal village setting as it does from its characters. The author does a commendable job of describing the modern and historic aspects of the town, as well as Cliffs House, home to Lord William and Lady Amanda, without getting bogged down.

Cliffs House, an old family estate now serving as a bed-and-breakfast and event site, is the destination of event planner, Julianne Morgen.

Underrated, underappreciated, and overlooked in her position at Design a Dream, the Seattle firm where she works, a senior planner’s bad luck gives Julianne the opportunity to apply for… and win a full-time event planning position in Cornwall, England.

Julianne doesn’t have time to take a breath upon arrival before she dives into planning a celebrity wedding for a petulant bride and bored groom.

Add a gossipy but humorous house staff, ten dozen ruined Petit fours and a handsome, but mysterious gardener, and Julianne has to dig her stiletto heels deep or go running back to the states.

After all she’d been through to get her new position, I couldn’t help but cheer Julianne on. She’s not feisty or sassy… but simply smart and determined.

Chef’s assistants Gemma and Pippa add laughs as they never shut up, even when drooling over the bored groom or the gardener, Matthew Rose.

Though their meeting is contentious, Julianne and Matthew form an easy friendship until a horrid chief bridesmaid and Matthew’s past take center-stage.

This short, sweet, light romance was an enjoyable read full of flaws, doubts, and heart and I do recommend it!

My grandma is trying to hook me up.
To be painfully specific, my seventy-five-year-old grandmother thinks a little hanky-panky would cheer me up. Direct quote. Since I’m currently living with her, I can’t escape the endless line of grandchildren of friends who keep ‘dropping by’ for dinner. Literally, I can’t escape. I can barely manage the trek to the dining room at this point.
While Grandma’s determined to find me a husband, I’m determined to learn how to walk again so I can walk away from her matchmaking skills. Spoiler alert: She has no matchmaking skills.
But then I get a brilliant idea. I can fake date my physical therapist. Only he wants a real date. Gulp. A real date with me? Is he for real? I’m no longer the stylish girl with the glamorous job. Now, I’m a woman with a shattered leg and a scarred face.
If I’m going to learn to live with my new reality and give love a chance, my attitude needs to do an about face. Easier said than done.

I grew up reading everything I could get my grubby hands on, from my mom’s Harlequin romances to Nancy Drew, to Little Women. When I wasn’t flipping pages in a library book, I was penning horrendous poems, writing songs no one should ever sing, or drafting stories which have thankfully been destroyed. College and a stint in the U.S. Army came along, robbing me of free time to write and read, although on the odd occasion I did manage to sneak a book into my rucksack between rolled up socks, MRIs, t-shirts, and cold weather gear. After surviving the army experience, I went back to school and got my law degree. I jumped ship and joined the hubby in the Netherlands before the graduation ceremony could even begin. A few years into my legal career, I was exhausted, fed up, and just plain done. I quit my job and sat down to write a manuscript, which I promptly hid in the attic after returning to the law. But being a lawyer really wasn’t my thing, so I quit (again!) and went off to Germany to start a B&B. Turns out being a B&B owner wasn’t my thing either. I polished off that manuscript languishing in the attic before following the husband to Istanbul where I decided to give the whole writer-thing a go. But ten years was too many to stay away from my adopted home. I packed up again and moved to The Hague where I’m currently working on my next book. I hope I’ll always be working on my next book.

Greenberg manages to track down Dominic Langley. After an acrimonious encounter, Dominic finally realises that Greenberg is not the imposter as he’d originally thought and his claims about Nadine, the mother hitherto he knew nothing about, were all true. After suffering a nervous breakdown, Dominic finally come to terms with his past, denied to him by his adopted parents. He forges a close friendship with Greenberg and agrees to direct the musical about his mother, called Nadine. The show becomes a huge financial success and salvages his mentor’s reputation, allowing Greenberg to move on with his life.

Greenberg should have been feeling happy. Owner of the hottest property in town, his reputation as a top West End producer restored, everything was as it should have been. And yet… He reflected on all that had happened over the last year, and about the events that had helped him reach his decision.

Nadine’s diaries had affected Dominic deeply but had cemented an enduring relationship between the two of them. To Greenberg’s great relief, Dominic was desperate to be involved with a show about his mother. However, it wasn’t all plain sailing.

Dominic considered the script as it stood to be too thin. It needed, in his words, to be ‘far more edgy’ and to include all the aspects of Nadine’s private life that were missing.

It had been Greenberg’s decision to be deliberately uncontroversial. There was so much about Nadine he wanted to keep secret, to preserve a perfect image of her. But she was no longer his, to do with as he wished. Her only child had claimed his right to her. Now Dominic would be the one to bring her back to life and to the attention of the public.

John Steinberg was born in 1952 and spent many years in business before becoming a writer in 2007. Since then, he has co-written and produced comedies for the stage and has created a series of books for children. Nadine is his third novel. He is married with three children and lives in North London.
