#Review “Jay-Jay and the Carnival” by Sue Wickstead

Jay Jay cover

5/5 Stars!

What a cute story, and that it’s based on a real bus—the Bewbush Playbus—makes it even better!

Jay-Jay is a special bus full of toys that travels around the city visiting children during school holidays. As the end of the holidays approach, everyone works to get Jay-Jay ready for the big carnival.

On the way to the carnival, Jay-Jay encounters a problem and driver Alex is nervous they won’t get to the carnival in time. But two kind men help to make sure Jay-Jay isn’t late for the celebration, and he and Alex will see one of the kind men again.

Jay-Jay and the Carnival shows children good simple examples of overcoming adversity, kindness, and having a team spirit.

I recommend Jay-Jay’s story as a good read for early and intermediate readers or group story time.

Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus is a brightly coloured playbus full of toys. He’s always ready for adventure, and after an eventful summer the bus is ready for his journey to the carnival. The children are also excited – but what will happen on the way?
