by P.M. Steffen

Genre: Mystery, Thriller & Suspense/Women’s Sleuths

A grisly murder. A six-year-old eyewitness. A gun from the grave.

The Profiler’s Daughter is a psychologically haunting thriller that combines murder mystery, love triangle, and family intrigue in one satisfying page burner.

Sky Stone was born into the wealth and privilege of Boston’s oldest Brahmin family but chooses instead to follow in the footsteps of her deceased father, legendary FBI profiler Monk Stone. In the chilly morning hours before the Boston Marathon, when a beautiful university student is found strangled and mutilated, her body left at the base of Heartbreak Hill, Sky returns from self-imposed exile to investigate. Thirty-six hours into the investigation, Sky’s world turns upside down when she is fired from the Homicide team. They pin the murder on an innocent man, forcing Sky into a life-threatening game of cat and mouse with the real killer. From the stately mansions of Beacon Hill to the flat scrubland of central Texas, Sky keeps the reader on a razor’s edge, culminating in a no-holds-barred shoot-out.

The Profiler’s Daughter, the first in the Sky Stone Thriller series, introduces a moody, enigmatic, and brilliant female sleuth with the fierce bite of Stieg Larsson’s Lisbeth Salander. As adeptly written as Martin Cruz Smith’s complex Arkady Renko novels, this thriller offers an intriguing plot, richly detailed characters, and an astonishing conclusion guaranteed to leave the reader begging for more.

Song Lyric Sunday | “No One Would Listen” – Phantom of the Opera

Song Lyric Sunday was created by Helen Vahdati from This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time. For complete rules or to join in the fun, click here.

The theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is listen.”

~~~~~~~~~~
Glad to be done with the headache of moving last week so I can sit down and enjoy some music and Song Lyric Sunday!
No One Would Listen was a song written by David Zippel for the 2004 theatrical version of Phantom of the Opera starring Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. It was cut and the melody was reused set to new lyrics for the movie’s closing song Learn to Be Lonely, sang by Minnie Driver. The song does appear on the two-disc CD soundtrack from the movie.
The song has Erik, the Phantom sitting in his lair surrounded by pictures of Christine. He is singing of how she was the only one who ever pitied him, while everyone else feared him.
Enjoy!
No One Would Listen
No one would listen
No one but her
Heard as the outcast hears
Shamed into solitude
Shunned by the multitude
I learned to listen
In the dark, my heart heard music
I long to teach the world
Rise up and reach the world
No one would listen
I alone could hear the music
Then at last a voice in the gloom
Seemed to cry “I hear you. I hear your fears, your torment and your tears.”
She saw my loneliness
Shared in my emptiness
No one would listen
No one but her
Heard as the outcast hears
No one would listen
No one but her
Heard as the outcast hears
Little Puma’s Christmas Adventure- Scarlett Grove – Tired of waiting for a mate, Puma shifter Stephanie takes a Christmas cruise to the Caribbean. Working for a covert squadron, grizzly shifter Max hopes he can make up for his past. When disaster strikes it leaves both shifters stranded on a tropical island and interrupts Max’s mission to change everything for the shell shocked shifter. Can he save the girl, save the day, and learn to let himself be loved?
The Reindeer Shifter’s Christmas Gift – J.K. Harper – Bear shifter Wyatt and reindeer shifter Brynna have lots of history. #AuthorSpotlight Louisa Berry, author of “Vanilla Extract”
~~~

Louisa Berry, author of Vanilla Extract, is visiting with me today on Nesie’s Place! Please help me give her a warm welcome!

~~~
Welcome all the way from Hertfordshire, Louisa! Thanks for taking the time to share a bit about Louisa, the author!
So, how long have you been a writer?  Three years now.
How long did it take you to write your first book? On and off it took two years, but only because I cast it aside a few times when life got in the way.  My second book only took five months.
What’s your favorite genre to write or do you only write in one genre?  At the moment it’s erotic fiction. I can imagine I will venture into other genres in time, but to excuse the pun, erotic fiction flows!
Are you self-published, traditional, or hybrid? It’s self-publishing but with assistance from a local publisher who has helped with the proof-reading, editing and getting Vanilla Extract listed in the right places.
Where do you get the most writing done?  Usually on plane or train journeys.  My iPad mini helps.  I use the Notes section to jot down my thoughts and then I send it to myself.  It’s a great way to make those journeys go quicker.
Totally addicted to social media or could you live without it?  I market Vanilla Extract myself and that means social media is definitely my friend.  I have accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to promote my work and my networks are continuously building.  You have to have these tools if you want to gain a following.
What’s the inspiration behind Vanilla Extract? Who’s your favorite character?  The inspiration was to dispel the thought that a journey of self and sexual discovery is seedy, dirty or unacceptable.  Instead it is liberating, funny and a complete learning curve.  The lead character (Lou) is my favourite character as you watch her confidence grow with each encounter and the lessons she learns along the way can be useful for every reader.
What’s your next project or release? Cinnamon Twist describes the next part of Lou’s journey and it is released late November 2018.
What’s your favorite genre to read?  Growing up it was always horror or science fiction.  I was handed my mother’s cast offs, so Stephen King featured heavily, as did James Herbert and Graham Masterton.  By today’s standards, you would say it was too young for me to be reading such content, but it hasn’t done me any harm!  Nowadays I am trying to catch up on some of the classics I have missed over the years and I’m partial to biographies and auto-biographies.  People are fascinating!
Do you venture into other genres other than your preferred?  From time to time but it really comes down to how much time you allow yourself to participate in the joy of reading and what you concentrate on.
What are you reading now?  Well I’ve finally read The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wylde, and whilst it was a little on the dark side, I did enjoy it. You have to remember when it was written and what society was like then.  I’m currently half way through Metamorphosis, Franz Kafka, but I must admit I’m struggling.  I shall persevere to the end though, so I can make my mind up then.
What’s your favorite beverage to read with?  I’m English.  It’s got to be a lovely cup of tea or a large glass of sparkling water to keep me going.
Any advice for new authors?  If it feels right, do it.  Get those words down and reread/edit later. The important thing is to get it out of your head and onto your laptop (or paper if that’s your preferred method).
Many thanks to Louisa for visiting with us today! Keep scrolling to learn more about Vanilla Extract and download your copy today!
