Lost in Emotion by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam appeared on their 1987 album Spanish Fly. The song hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on October 17, 1987—THIRTY-ONE years ago this week. The song was their second number-one single (having scored their first earlier in the year with Head to Toe). The song also went to number one on the Black Singles chart, and number eight on the dance chart.
The song is about a woman who’s in love with a man that everyone she knows thinks is wrong for her, but she will disregard them and follow her heart.
