5/5 Stars!
To help their friend, Mr. Globe, get over a headache, young friends Hope, Lea, Parth, and Jun go on an adventure in search of head aid – magical hats from the many diverse cultures of London which will make Mr. Globe feel better.
The four friends, each from a different culture, enjoy an easy friendship where skin color isn’t an issue and working together comes naturally.
As they search for the magical hats in the many districts and areas of the city, popular London landmarks and attractions are pointed out like Big Ben and the Tube. They even travel to Baker Street looking for a deer stalker, the hat made famous by fictional legend Sherlock Holmes.
The London Hat Hunting Mission has a natural flow and feel, enhanced by the innocence of the children. Beautiful illustrations and real photos are presented in a colorful back-drop and also include a large easy-to-read font that could be read by beginning readers and tweens alike.
The story is not preachy or political and sends the simple message that in order for Mr. Globe to feel good, he needs all cultures and ethnicities… together. Each and every one is important and brings something special to every day life.
I believe any child would enjoy The London Hat Hunting Mission, but I also recommend it for teens and adults because there are some things you’re never too old to learn.
Enjoy!
