4/5 Stars!
The Weekend Spa Break packs a lot of emotion and fun into a short read.
We’re quickly caught up on the group of online friends who stepped out of the virtual world and met for the first time in The Big Event.
While Karmel, Jagger, Stan, and Henry are never far from thought—or social media posts—this is Constance and Estelle’s story.
Their literary lives take a back seat during a weekend spa getaway where they bond like sisters and find out they have more in common than they realized.
The weekend itself was cathartic for both women. They let their guards down and talked about broken hearts, autistic sons, and their toxic mother-in-law/mother-in-law-to-be.
Told from Constance’s POV, I prefer Estelle. At least through the eyes of her friend, Estelle appears more ballsy, confident, and not one to suffer fools lightly.
Constance Jeffries is a strong, independent woman, but seems to be ‘nicer’ and too concerned with appearances. There is no time limit on recovering from a broken heart, but Constance seemed intent on self-torture. If she blocked Maxwell across social media why not delete him from her cell too? Her reaction to the family hen party in the elevator also left me feeling some-kind-of-way.
However, I had a good feeling about Constance and felt as though she would prevail in moving on (hello, Julio!)—even though I thought she dwelt too much in the past and on MAXWELL—until the incident in her room near the end of the spa weekend. She crumbled when after the bombshell tossed at her, she should have become the Hulk and smashed Penelope in the face. Blaming Constance for something she had no knowledge of? Whatever. Instead of shaking her confidence, Constance would have felt better. (Okay, I would have felt better.)
Looking forward to the third installment. I hope the moms do get together with their sons for play-dates and the Picnic in the Sky event goes off without a hitch… but that’s asking too much, right? HA!
Great installment and a good story of two women reaching out and learning to trust despite the betrayal they’ve each suffered in the past.
Enjoy!

Friendships Online Series
Part Two
After finally meeting in person at the publishing party of the season, Constance and Estelle are determined not to let their friendship return to mere virtual champagne bottles and uploaded pictures of food.
It’s been a busy year, and Constance feels it’s time to reward herself with the spa break Estelle gave her for Christmas. Naturally, Constance wouldn’t dream of taking anyone other than Estelle, and this will provide the perfect opportunity to bond with her new chum.
As the excited pair spend some quality time together, they realise it’s not just writing books they have in common, but something that goes much deeper. After a few Jacuzzi sessions, facials, pedicures, and a massage by sexy Senior Therapist, Julio, everything seems to be peachy until an unexpected visitor turns Constance’s weekend of bliss … on its head.
A two-day spa break.
Sparkling water on tap.
And the perfect massage.
But who’s rubbing who up the wrong way?
