Will Nightshade’s feelings about Violet change his mind about marriage or will he leave her behind to marry another?

Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.

He’ll shake her foundations…

Ana Grace is living a single mother’s worst nightmare. Separated from her two kids by a catastrophic earthquake, she’s trapped in her office building with a man she’s only just met. He’s a sexy former soldier, and possibly the only man able to help her navigate the dangerous landscape home.

Daniel Calder is tired of failing people he’s tried to help, but since Ana is his younger sister’s boss, he’s caught between a rock and a hard place. That rock keeps shifting under his feet, shaking his determination not to become emotionally involved with another damsel in distress.

But when an unforeseen enemy rises from a city in chaos, Ana Grace and her family are in the crosshairs. There’s so much more at stake than just their hearts, and the clock is ticking.

Once on the second floor ledge, Daniel followed her directions to descend another story, where he dropped the last six feet to land catlike on the ground. He brushed a smattering of dust from his shoulder and stalked toward her, a tawny panther of a man.
It was a moment that slashed a line in the sand. On one side was Nadia’s brother and the perfect guy to have around in an emergency. On the other side of the line, the one she’d inadvertently stepped over, was simply Daniel. Ana could no longer deny her awareness of him, how he made her blood thrum and heat wash through her body.
He stopped close enough that she could count each individual flake of brick that dotted his shirt. Heat blistered off him, carrying his unique scent and the raw sting of fresh male sweat. Her mouth went dry, as if the warmth of his body sucked out all the moisture.
“Could’ve done it blindfolded, huh?” The tip of her tongue swept out to dampen lips that trembled under his fierce contemplation. “You might’ve been killed.”
Daniel didn’t reply. Instead, he slid a hand along the curve of her jaw. She shivered as his long fingers cradled the back of her head and used them as gentle leverage to pull her off balance. Her hands splayed against his chest, her palms soaking up the heat released from taut muscle.
“I didn’t need to see. I had you.”
“Daniel, I don’t think we, I mean I—” Her voice contained a huskiness she didn’t recognize. It was like eavesdropping on a stranger. A stranger who wasted her breath by protesting the inevitable.

I Am Sacagawea (Ordinary People Change the World)

by Brad Meltzer, Christopher Eliopoulos (Illustrator)

Genre: Children’s Books/History/Biographies/Multicultural/Women

Sacagawea, the only Native American included in Lewis and Clark’s historic expedition, joins the inspiring list of heroes whose stories are told in this New York Times Bestselling biography series.

Sacagawea was the only girl, and the only Native American, to join Lewis and Clark’s Corps of Discovery, which explored the United States from the Mississippi River all the way to the Pacific Ocean in the early 1800s. As a translator, she helped the team communicate with members of the Shoshone tribe across the continent, carrying her child on her back the whole way. By the time the expedition arrived at the west coast, Sacagawea had proved that she truly was a trailblazer.

This friendly, fun biography series focuses on the traits that made our heroes great—the traits that kids can aspire to in order to live heroically themselves. Each book tells the story of one of America’s icons in a lively, conversational way that works well for the youngest nonfiction readers and that always includes the hero’s childhood influences. At the back are an excellent timeline and photos.

Song Lyric Sunday | “We Are the World” – USA for Africa

Song Lyric Sunday was created by Helen Vahdati from This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time. For complete rules or to join in the fun, click here.

The theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is “unity”.

~~~~~
Penned by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie, and produced by Quincy Jones, We Are the World was written specifically to raise funds for famine-stricken and disease-plagued Africa following the success of Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas? UK-project.
The recording took place on the night of the American Music Awards, January 28th, 1985. This was the perfect way to assure that most of the artists would all be free on a single date.
The instrumental tracks were recorded ahead of time and sent out by Jones to the interested musicians. With each tape, he sent a letter that stated they should “check their ego at the door.” When they arrived in the studio, there was a piece of tape on the floor for each person to stand on, arranged around six microphones in a semi-circle.
800,000 copies arrived in stores on Tuesday, March 7th 1985. They were sold out by the first weekend. It entered the Billboard Hot 100 on March 23rd, at number 21. At the time it was the highest debuting single since John Lennon’s Imagine and was number one in three weeks, which at the time was the fastest rising chart-topper since Elton John’s Island Girl in 1975. It was the eighth consecutive year the Lionel Ritchie had written a number one song. At the 1986 Grammy Awards, the song and its accompanying music video won four awards: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Music Video, Short Form. We Are the World would raise more than $63 million ($141 million, adjusted for inflation), of which 90% was sent to Africa.
We Are the World’s video is one of my all-time favorites! So much God-given talent in one room at one time! Fans and children of the 80s can appreciate seeing Dionne Warwick and Willie Nelson, Kenny Logins and James Ingram, Billy Joel and Tina Turner, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dyan, just to name a few, blend their own styles together to sing a song which would sell more than twenty million copies. In a couple of video scenes Hollywood icon, Harry Belafonte, can be seen  in the top back row of the group. Belafonte is recognized as the original organizer of USA for Africa.
Enjoy!
