Colby Drake is Mr. Fix It and likes to take things into his own hands. Working in Aunt Tootie’s shop, Dixie is always taking matters into her own hands, and Colby is determined to solve all her problems regardless of whether she wants the help or not. But she’s no damsel in distress looking to be saved.
The moment the door to the store flies open, it takes all of two seconds to see that ginger walk back in here like sheâs done a minimum of two times a week since she arrived into town three months ago. Dixie is a spitfire with hair to match, emerald eyes, and is fucking independent as hell. âMorninâ, Colby. I got a leak at the shop. Can you tell me if youâve got one of these?â she says as she tosses the spray hose on the counter. Looking at it, itâs an easy fix, and I know Iâve got the Belvedere hose that should easily fix it. âYeah, come on. Itâs on aisle three.â âThank goodness! How the hell am I going to shampoo hair without a freaking sprayer?â âYou could use a cup,â I say as I try to refrain from laughing. Rolling her eyes, she places her hands on her hips. Shit. Here it comes. âDrake, you listen. I will not have folks getting shampooed with a freaking cup. This ainât some five-dollar mall beauty parlor. Iâve got a good thing going, but damn, every time I turn around somethingâs falling apart.â
Casey Peeler grew up in North Carolina and still lives there with her husband and daughter. Growing up Casey wasn’t an avid reader or writer, but after reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurston during her senior year of high school, and multiple Nicholas Sparks’ novels, she found a hidden love and appreciation for reading. That love ignited the passion for writing several years later, and her writing style combines real life scenarios with morals and values teenagers need in their daily lives. When Casey isn’t writing, you can find her near a body of water listening to country music with a cold beverage and a great book.

How do you recover when life kick boxes your soul?
Becca Gable is fighting to stay on her feet after a series of crushing losses. She’s always been the good girl until the events of the past year push her to make a mistake she canât take back. Now, her corporate finance job and her fiancĂŠe are gone thanks to her newly-acquired criminal record.
Shane Marlow survived an IED blast during his service in Iraqâbut half his team did not. Physically healed, he returns to his home county as a K9 officer. The scars of loss run deep and though local folks admire him, no one truly gets himâuntil Becca literally lands in front of him.
Their bond of shared tragedy evolves into a connection both fiery and healing. But a stalker decides that Beccaâs crime should stay front and center. As the unsettling episodes reveal that no part of her life is secret, Shane is all that stands between her and the enemy.
Shane tilted her chin up. Big, sad eyes stared back at him. Hell, heâd had that bleak feeling. The point where his heart hurt for his team, and he felt like he was facing a sheer vertical climb with no help. He dealt with it by working, running with Denver, shooting, hanging out on Redemption Hill. And he pushed the negative thoughts to the back of his mind. But not until Becca had he realized that meeting someone whoâd walked his path could make a difference. âI see that look,â he murmured. âWhat look?â âThe one that says youâre at the bottom of a twenty-foot pit with no ladder.â âMaybe I am,â she whispered. âHow did you get out?â âDonât know if I have,â he said. âBut meeting you bumped me up higher than I was before.â Her brows knit. âHow can I help you when I canât even help myself?â âJust being you is all you need to do.â He laced his fingers with hers. âIâm not good with words. But Iâve never met anyone whoâs been through anything close to what I haveâlosing people too soon, and not just oneâexcept for the rest of my team. And, uh, itâs not like we hang out and talk about our feelings or anything.â She gave a half laugh. âYeah, I guess not.â Light fingertips grazed his knuckles. âI still donât know how Iâm helping, but as long as you think I am, I wanna keep on with it.â âI like that plan.â Finally, a happy glint appeared in her eyes. âI like you.â He grinned. âSeeinâ as youâre buck naked in my bed, you better.â âYouâre bad.â She smacked his chest and kept her hand there, pushing him back. âLie down.â He guessed she wanted to cuddle and that was fine with him. Stretching out on his side of the bed, he held out his arms. âCome here.â But instead, she leaned across his chest and pressed a warm kiss to his pec. Not a quick press of her lips to his skin. But one that lingered, yanking his mind to a place he hadnât expected to go tonight. Not that he minded. âBecca?â She raised her magnetic eyes, but not her warm, naughty mouth. Her kiss, slow and languid, ignited every inch that she touched. âMmm?â A hundred questions popped rapid fire into his head. Was she okay? Did she need to talk or to just be held or something? Heâd never been good at comfort. But each thought was derailed by the fire in his veins. He trusted sheâd tell him what she wanted. And right now, she didnât need to say a word.
