Didi Oviatt -Author

Blogging is a fickle thing,

It makes you laugh, it makes you think.

There are some that I follow who shine above,

So now it’s time to return the love.

James J Cudney you’re at the top of my list,

I don’t have a single post that you’ve missed.

With enough awards and tags to make a weak blogger bow,

You could say I’m a big fan of ‘This Is My Truth Now.’

Kim could be the kindest blogger I know,

Great things are coming your way if its true, you reap what you sow.

You’re bookish intelligent, and WordPress you’ve shook,

One of my most loved reviewers is By Hook Or By Book.

From writing to romance, you deliver it all.

5 Things Bloggers Should Remember When Hosting Book Tours #MondayBlog

Felicia Denise, Author

5 Things Bloggers Should Remember banner

In my last two #MondayBlog posts, I posted five things book promotion services and authors should remember when planning/running book tours. The week – it’s bloggers’ turn.

Regardless of where you post—Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, or an Internet blog—you’re a blogger. When you join book tours… you’re a tour host. Authors can write books and services can plan tours, but without motivated tour hosts to help get the word out… nothing happens… it doesn’t work!

Bloggers host tour events for a variety of reasons, including the love of books and reading, supporting authors, and blog content.

Five things bloggers should remember are:

  1. Know what you’re signing up for. What type of tour is it? Is it DIY or will HTML be provided? Is it just a promo post? Is reviewing an option or mandatory? Is sharing the post expected?  If you are not sure- ASK QUESTIONS before signing up.
  2. If…

“The Carter Devereux Mystery Thrillers” by JC Ryan

#FREE August 7th Only!

Nothing New Under the Sun cover

“The Carter Devereux Mystery Thrillers

Genre: Thriller/Mystery/Historical

Release Date: May 23, 2017

Amazon ButtonGoodreads ButtonKindle Unlimited

All four books in the Carter Devereux Mysteries series!

Nothing New Under the Sun

Carter’s research and exploration into this history take him to South America, India, and the Middle East, where he makes mind-boggling discoveries which challenge our entire view of human history. And before long, Carter finds himself with not only a large number of critics from across the world but also a number of ardent followers.

Through the ages kings, rulers, power seekers, and governments have been trying secretly, and sometimes not so secretly, to get their hands on artifacts believed to have immense power. Examples include the Holy Grail, the Ark of the Covenant, Bachal Isu – the staff of Moses, carried by David, and the King of Kings, Jesus Christ, the Spear of Destiny, the time machine “the Glock” created by the Germans during WWII, and ancient lost cities with hidden fortunes of gold and artifacts with unimaginable powers.

There is a no shortage of unscrupulous, power hungry people who will do anything, including kill, to possess these relics- if they exist.

Most frightening of them all are the ancient texts that speak of earth’s destruction by nuclear weapons thousands of years ago.

Do those nuclear weapons still exist?

If so where are they?

Can Carter Devereux discover them before anyone else can?

The Wolves of Freydis

Carter Devereux’s idyllic world had been shattered and catapulted into chaos, and with it, the fate of humanity itself.

With a traitor in their midst who seems to stay one step ahead of them, it is a race against time for Carter Devereux and a team of Special Forces operators who must fight evils never before encountered.

Can they uncover the traitor, free the captives from an unknown location, and stop the evil from sweeping in and changing the world as we know it?

The Alboran Codex

In the year 106 AD, when the Roman legions marched on their capital at Petra, the Nabateans surrendered their empire to the Romans, without a fight, and according to historians ceased to exist.

But very few knew that the Nabateans didn’t cease to exist, they just stayed out of sight for more than 1,900 years, and now they are on the verge of implementing their final plan.

Carter Devereux, with his knowledge of the City of the Giants and their library in the Egyptian desert, is the only obstacle in the way to achieve their goals.

Therefore, the order of the Council of the Covenant of Nabatea is clear; “We MUST have that information. All of it. Move in on Carter Devereux… and get it at all costs, up to and including the killing of everyone….”

The Nabatean Secret

Sentries at the Main Gate of Patch Barracks had turned away the last of the local Fasching revelers an hour or so before, laughingly joking with them that the Barracks were too quiet for their parties. A few soldiers, somewhat worse for wear after joining the locals for the opening night of Germany’s “Fifth Season”, straggled in around midnight. They were cheerfully waved through the gate by the envious guards, who had pulled duty that night and didn’t get to celebrate.

Since then, the night had been still, only the night sounds typical of the region breaking the silence. The cell and radio tower behind the thick trees was lit by an eerie glow from the remains of the Fasching bonfire a few miles away. It would be six long hours until sunrise and their relief.

The peace of the night lulled them to silence.

Behind them, an eerie blue-white blinding flash bloomed. . .

C Ryan holds a military degree and served as an officer in the military for seven years before a crippling back injury forced him to change careers. He returned to university studied law and became a lawyer, running his own private practice for more than fifteen years before he moved overseas, became an IT project manager and finally got the opportunity to pursue his lifelong dream of being a writer.

With the knowledge and experience gained by living and working on three continents and as many careers, Ryan amassed a wealth of knowledge and material which equipped him to take up fiction writing.

Since the publication of The Tenth Cycle in May 2014, his first novel in the very popular Rossler Foundation Mysteries, JC Ryan has become a bestselling author of spellbinding archeological mysteries and crime suspense-thrillers. He has published books in three series.

The Rossler Foundation Mysteries Series – The truth about human history is locked up in the great pyramid, but will we be allowed to know the truth? In this six-part series, JC Ryan captures our imagination with the messages from the Great Pyramid that slowly reveals our past and the characters. This series catches the readers interest by the idea of cycles of civilizations previous to our own and then building up to a veritable tour de force. A well-researched, great plot followed through the six books. One of my favorite authors.

The Carter Devereux Mystery Thriller Series – Over the years, Carter Devereux, a tenured professor of archeology has come to realize that we have warped our own history. Intentionally mistranslating, changing, adapting, and skewing it to fit in with our restricted perceptions – conveniently ignoring what we didn’t understand. In his quest to learn more about human history, he made some startling, controversial, and even perilous discoveries, and soon Professor Carter Devereux has ruthless, lethal enemies.

The Exonerated Series – Young, beautiful and still an optimist, Regan St Clair, a judge from the Ninth District, believed she could make a difference when she took pity on the pleas of a desperate wife. She employs Jake Westley, a former Delta Force commando to investigate, as they uncover the truth they step on the toes of a secret evil cabal and all hell breaks loose.

Ryan has been married to his college sweetheart since 1978, and have two daughters and two dogs and make their home on the beautiful Gold Coast of Australia.

Bradley and his wife spend time in both sunny California and the great state of Kentucky, where he does his very best to be charming, witty, and clever. When those attempts inevitably fail, he locks himself in a room and makes up characters who seem to always find him far more interesting than real people do. Funny how that works.

Bradley has been writing since he was a child. He started with songs and poems, but finally gave in to writing stories when the voices in his head resorted to shouting. He is inspired by every author he reads, most notably, Stephen King, and Carsten Stroud. For more information visit: bradleywrightauthor.com

Lurking-Adverb-Also

“It keeps popping up, and I don’t know why it’s there!”

Grammar Smith really didn’t want to start her Monday morning with a paranoid Maven Syntassein.

“Okay, Maven, what’s the problem today?”

“It’s ‘also’! It keeps showing up everywhere. Sure, it’s not like it’s wrong for it to be there, but I just can’t shake the feeling I’m being stalked.”

Grammar turned to her computer, brought up a complaint form, and [also] started filling it in.

“Can you describe the incidents for me?” Grammar took a sip of her morning coffee.

“Well, ‘also’ seems to tag along with ‘and’ far too much for my taste.”

Maven gave three examples:

  • He had dinner, dessert and also a glass of port.
  • She was head of Markitup Corporation, and also she held a degree in ergonomic engineering.
  • The group traveled to Italy, Austria, and also the Czech Republic.

Reading for All

K Morris - Poet

Being blind and unable to read print, I find the Amazon Kindle’s text to speech facility a huge boon. For anyone who is unaware of the text to speech facility, when activated, it reads aloud books where the author/publisher has enabled speech. While the reading voice is robotic, it has improved over the years and (in my experience) once the reader becomes lost in a good book, it is easy to forget that a dalek is doing the reading!

The majority of books in the Amazon Kindle store have text to speech enabled. Of those which do not, most (perhaps all) are available as audible downloads from audible.co.uk/audible.com. However, Audible titles are, on the whole more expensive than their Kindle counterparts, which means that someone who is unable to read print must (if the text to speech facility is not enabled on the Kindle version) spend more to obtain the…

The holiday season is not the best time to publish for new, self-published authors…

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

by Steven Spatz on BookBaby Blog:

Q: What’s the best time to publish your book?

A: Now!

Here’s a little-known fact for aspiring self-published authors: The holiday season is not the prime selling time for new, self-published authors.

Think about it: Established authors target holiday sales’ periods because it’s a safe, easy gift choice for a lot of folks. The same can’t be said for most self-published authors. These relatively unknown authors’ books need to stand out and attract the interest of potential readers. This kind of discovery and browsing usually doesn’t take place in the hectic holiday time frame. As a result, they’re often disappointed with holiday sales efforts.

So when is “prime time” for new authors to release their book? Just about any other time than the holidays, starting with the beginning of the year. People are going to have more time to spend reading during the cold…

Library Journal raves the Sins Series is “…dark, seductive, and sexy as sin.” For readers who love paranormal romance and urban fantasy.

Dagan Krayl, the Underworld’s most powerful soul reaper, is the demigod son of the evil god Sutekh. He’s on a mission to find his murdered brother’s remains and resurrect him, but resurrection means that the secrets carried into death would be released and, with them, a war that could end gods and mankind alike.

Roxy Tam is searching for the same thing, but for completely different reasons. She means to make certain that the remains don’t fall into Sutekh’s hands, and that the soul reapers do not reanimate their fallen comrade. As a Daughter of Aset, Roxy is tasked with the protection of the human race, and if that means thwarting an all powerful soul reaper and making certain his dead brother stays dead, so be it. But when Roxy sees Dagan face-to-face, she realizes that she has met him once before—a meeting that changed her life forever.

Neither Dagan nor Roxy expects to join forces for the sake of mankind. Or to have their loyalties tested as they struggle against treachery, betrayal and the potent desire that threatens to consume them both.

Then Margaret clashes with the retreat leader. To complicate matters further, a dead body turns up next door to their retreat.

The deceased turns out to be a local casino manager with a lot of enemies. When Margaret spots the dead man’s widow being squired around town by a male companion, her curiosity is piqued.
