“Writing is WORK!” #Update

Wow! What a month I’m having!

I go from diligently working on finally publishing my first novel, to balancing three WIPs!

Why didn’t someone tell me this is WORK? I don’t want to work, I just want to write. Oh, well. That being said, I’m definitely deep into it. In The Best Interest of the Child went live on September 30th – but who knew it would have a BOOK TWO? I surely didn’t! SURPRISE! With a word count of nearly 150K, I had to back off and streamline book one…and it still came out at three hundred pages! But book one has NO cliffhanger – I loathe those! Book two will be another leg in Olivia Chandler’s journey (and it had better end in book two – who knows with my characters).

Since the second book is mostly written, I was shooting for a release date of somewhere between December 1 and the 15th. However, my editor is currently handling a family emergency, so I may move the release date to January. Yes, I know I could get another editor, but she did a great job with the first book and knows the story line – why tamper with a working formula?

What will be releasing soon is the print version of book one! I’m a big fan of print books and still buy them frequently. Okay, too frequently. But other print lovers have sounded off loud and clear. It’s a go for December!

My NaNoWriMo project is shaping up quite nicely. The working title is “For Worse” (as in ‘for better or for worse’) and tells the story of Quinn Landon, who finally files for divorce from her lying, cheating husband, and believes she’s on a new path to a new life. Only, she isn’t. More about ‘For Worse’ as we get into NaNoWriMo country.

This is the cover…and please do not fall out and have a fit! It’s just a placeholder for NaNoWriMo. I would not subject the planet to my limited, amateurish art skills. Maybe one day.

4/5 Stars!

Another cute story from this author.

Hudson and Macy are great together, even if she was a bit hesitant in the beginning (and understandably so). Hudson’s eternal optimism even before he met Macy was just too adorable. He faltered slightly after Macy sent him away – still don’t get that. She’s studying to be a doctor, and was constantly spouting off clinical terms and definitions. Her response to Hudson’s secret just felt ‘off’. Not saying she had to be his number one cheerleader…it’s not every day you meet an alien…it’s just in MY fertile mind, she should have been more calm…and sensible. Macy made it right, though – so I’m still in her corner!

You know whose corner I’m not in? Ugh! I could not dislike Stacy more if she ran around slapping old people.

They’re twins…I get it.

Macy almost lost her…I get it.

They only have each other…I GET IT! But Stacy was such an insufferable cow, and totally took advantage of Macy. Not to mention, everything she did had a ring of jealousy to it. Some might say she felt guilty because of Macy studying so hard, and felt it was because of her…but I am not in that group. Why go to all the trouble to manipulate your sister into a dating/marriage situation, and then call her constantly during the date…and/or invite yourself along on the date??? No, ma’am! I’m pretty sure Stacy was a pain in the @ss even before she became ill.

Tried to look at their relationship from every angle, but it just didn’t work for me at all.

Definitely surprised at Ampetheia and her muddled visions! They don’t have twins anywhere else in the galaxy? (This is a serious question!)

(Also still not a fan of Miss Chloe. Much respect for her talk to get Macy back on the right track, but she still annoys me to no end. Chloe just seems to go out of her way to be abrasive and a rude cow. UGH! Not sure what Cutlass sees in her besides sex…but whatever. Not used to this author having females that exhibit Typical Romance Heroine behavior…but I’m trying.)

I like Maverick, and Stacy has truly mucked things up! She’d better fix it!

Great advice and excellent motivation to LIVE!

I just shared some of these words in my current 2-week freewriting group, and then I poured a second cup of coffee and kept going.
Remember: This is PRACTICE.
Low stakes. Go for it. Splatter the paint. I mean, the words. Let it be messy. Don’t bother cleaning up when you’re finished. Just walk away and get on with your day and look at that — life will go on, whether you stumbled onto something amazing or happened to be totally unremarkable.
Every day is something different.
Every day is a new chance to practice missing the mark and trying again.
Every day…

“Roommate (A Real Man, 5)” by Jenika Snow #BlogTour

I’ve done pretty damn well in hiding my feelings for her over the years, but having Meghan under the same roof as me, and only feet from my bed makes it hard to control myself.

The truth is when it comes to Meghan I don’t want to practice self-control. I love her.

I’ve known him nearly my whole life. He’s arrogant, gets under my skin, but is gorgeous and caring, too. And as much as I want to say it doesn’t affect me, that Brendan doesn’t affect me I’d be lying.

The truth is I love him, and I don’t know if that’ll end up destroying me.

She needed a place to stay, and now she’s got a roommate … me. But I’m about to show her that I want more than a friendly arrangement.

I’ve never been good at sharing, and when it comes to her, she’s mine.

Warning: You like short, hot, straight to the point stories? Do you want drama-free sexiness that leaves nothing to the imagination? Do you want a story that is pretty unbelievable, but gives you the warm fuzzies at the same time? Well then, leave your panties at the door because that’s what’s going down in this quickie.

Right here, right now, with the way he looked at me, that whatever was going on between us was … real.

He wanted me the way I wanted him, and all I wanted to do was be with him.

I didn’t care if there were any risks in being with Brendan, or even if I should.

I felt him playing with the wisps of hair by my ear, and chills raced up my spine. The tips of his fingers would brush the curve of my ear every so often, and I just wanted to be strong here and go for what I wanted … him. We might have said we loved each other, but it still felt so unreal.

“It’s only ever been you, Meghan.”

“That’s so hard to believe,” I said sincerely. Brendan was gorgeous, smart, and witty. He drew people in. He could have had anyone he wanted, even if I’d never actually seen him with anyone.

He shook his head and looked at my mouth again. I felt him move his fingers along my jawline and then over my cheek. I parted my mouth as I sucked in a breath when I felt him move those digits along my lips.

“No, it’s just you for me. It always has been.” He moved just a little closer so his body was now pressed against mine. I made this involuntary noise in the back of my throat when his muscles came in contact with my softness.
I also felt how hard he was.

And all because of me.

“I can’t even think of anyone else because I’m so fucking in love with you,” he murmured, still looking at my mouth, still running his fingers along the swell of my bottom lip. “I don’t ever want anyone else, Meghan, and I’ve been working up the courage, trying to be a man about it all, and tell you how I felt for years now.”

I couldn’t think, couldn’t even breathe after he spoke.

“I want to show you with my mouth,” he said low, deep, his voice moving along my flesh. “I want to show you with my tongue and hands how much you mean to me.” He pressed his lower body harder against mine. “And I want to show you with my cock just how good I can make you feel.”

Oh. Shit. I had definitely just fallen down the rabbit hole.
