Fate Always Wins!
All the Feral Breed-related stories deliver different levels of anxiety during battles, but Savage Sanctuary even upped that! Scummy Zeke and his band of inbred humans gave new meaning to the term “playing dirty”, and it did me give me pause to be concerned for the Dire warriors. (Silly me!)
I love the battle scenes, not just because you get to see the beast shifter unleashed, but also because it’s where the women show what they’re truly made of. This author NEVER fails to deliver strong females – human and shifter alike, and it’s one of the best themes that can be found in all of her books. Words are not wasted telling you how strong heroines are, but their actions throughout the story show these are women not to be taken lightly. There are doubts, questions…maybe even a little avoidance, but even then, the women know it’s just a matter of time before they come to a meeting of the minds. Amy never even got that far. Resistance was her plan, but I loved it when she was like, “willpower…gone.” LOL! It wasn’t the “poor little female overwhelmed by the big, bad male,” it was Amy wanting what SHE wanted…and getting it! Knowing how Amy had spent a lifetime standing up to her brothers and father…and winning, gave Levi much insight into the woman she was, and not only made him proud of her strength, but intensified his need for her.
I was a bit surprised by Levi being distracted from the mission, but from what I gather from the Dires backstory, he was the least ‘disciplined’ (for lack of a better word) of the pack, and, also still reeling from finding something he never thought he’d have. To his credit, Levi DID try to stay focused and protect the Omega, but Amy was a destined mate not to be denied. Loved that she was not the shy, demure type.
The Dires are definitely more ‘grumpy’ and have double the attitude of the Feral Breed, but I like how they can voice their disapproval with each other, but instantly unite as a team and a pack. They all also seem to have each other’s personalities pretty well pegged…even if they do give Levi a bad time. (And he DID earn the bad rep…LOL!)
Another great addition to the Ellis Leigh shifter world. Add it to your library!
Enjoy!
